About our school

New Norfolk Primary School is situated to the north west of Hobart in the Derwent Valley. Families live in a beautiful environment with a range of recreational opportunities, a long heritage and strong community identity.
New Norfolk Primary School traces its beginnings to the mid C19th. It was mentioned in an 1860 Board of Education report and a new school building was completed in 1867 at a cost of 849 pounds. The school now consists of the Blair Street Kindergarten and the Pioneer Avenue Primary School campuses. A major refurbishment was completed in 2011, renovating and extending the entire Pioneer Avenue campus.
New Norfolk Primary School strives to be inclusive of all. Literacy and numeracy have central places in our curriculum, as does our aim to give all students the opportunity to develop their individual capabilities and talents. We offer specialist classes in PE, Music, Library Classes and ICT.
